So I just sat down and sorted through what I wrote and what was published in 2014. A few things remain under the veil of secrecy, but this still works as a broad picture.
First, here’s what came out.
Short Stories:
– “The Conversion” in Kaiju Rising: Age of Monsters.
– “Sermon of Exodus” in Sedition’s Gate (this anthology was exclusive to the Horus Heresy Weekender).
– “The Deeper Wounds” in Sabbat Crusade.
– “The Endless Fall.”
– “The Ghosts of Rage.”
(The last two stories are included in the Lemartes box set.)
Books:
– Overfiend.
– Maledictus.
– Lemartes: Guardian of the Lost.
I was of two minds whether to include Lemartes in this list, since people won’t actually have it until 2015, but it was announced this year. I figure between that and the re-release of the previously limited Mephiston: Lord of Death, I can lay claim to five books out in 2014, and I like that number.
As for what I wrote, all of the above short stories, with the exception of “The Conversion” and “The Tribute of Flesh” were written in 2014, as were Maledictus and Lemartes. I wrote three more short stories — two are Horus Heresy ones, and the third is an occult investigator tale that will be showing up here.
I wrote two other novels this year too. One is a secret, but the other, just completed, is Yarrick: The Pyres of Armageddon. That one will be out in 2015. Looking ahead, I’ll be working on more Yarrick, more Grey Knights and more Horus Heresy, and a few more things besides. And there’s this little unicorn story I’m just wrapping up…
All in all, that’s about 400,000 words written this year. There were a few things I wanted to tackle, but only got a start on (maybe in 2015!), but overall that was pretty close to my best-case target in terms of numbers, so I’m feeling okay. So it’s back to work then. And wishing you all the best in the coming year.
…..damn it, I am really intrigued about that secret novel…..still a lot to catch up on from 2014 on your written stuff, hopefully they will be even better than the ones I read…..
Thanks! I’ll hope so too!
