Resolutions — A Jen Blaylock Story
Posted: January 28, 2014 in UncategorizedTags: action, Jen Blaylock, short fiction, thriller
In 1994, I tried my hand at a seasonal ghost story to share with friends and family. I thought I would post it here for anyone who would like to read it. It is certainly the work of my younger self, and I wince at some of the rough edges. Still, rather than revise it, I’ve chosen to present it in its original form, as a PDF of the little chapbook I created back then. (You’ll want to rotate it clockwise.) I hope some of you will have some fun with this. Read at night, beside a fireplace, if you can.
Feel free to share, but not, of course, to sell.
23/12/15 Update: The story is now up on Wattpad, in much more mobile-friendly form.
Season’s Greetings!

I know, I know, you see what I did there. I’m so funny, how do they even let me out of the house?

That’s the title of a guest post I’ve done for Shaun Duke of The Skiffy and Fanty Show, over at his site. Read it here. It’s all about why giant monsters smashing everything to hell is A Good and Joyous Thing.
Meanwhile, you can also check out my semi-coherent contributions to the panel discussions about the marvellous Pacific Rim and the abominable World War Z.

So. Man of Steel. I’m a bit late to the commenting party on this, and I have already contributed my two-bits to a roundtable podcast hosted by Shaun Duke of the Skiffy and Fanty Show (over here). I did, though, want to elaborate a bit further on a point I touched on in that discussion: the unconvincing use of religious symbolism in Man of Steel versus its far more interesting deployment in some giant monster movies. Stick with me here, okay? (more…)
